Sugar is the most widely available feedstock in the world. Unlike corn, which is commonly used for making ethanol in the United State, it doesn't compete
against the world food supply. There are 126 countries that produce and sell sugar, thus making it widely available
from a multitude of suppliers.
Due to the growing demand for sugar-based
ethanol, many governments are beginning to relax sugar controls and offer
incentives to promote its use for ethanol production. To ensure EFuel100
customers have access to low cost sugar, the E-Fuel Corporation will implement a carbon credit coupon program to keep the cost of sugar low for use as a
feedstock in the EFuel100 MicroFueler™.
The program is modeled on the 1997 Kyoto Protocol, which offers incentives to nations for
reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Ethanol reduces C02 emissions by 85% when
used in vehicles in place of gasoline, so E-Fuel will offer
MicroFueler owners coupons for discounted sugar feedstock from E-Fuel-certified
distributors. This coupon program will reward E-Fuel customers for reducing
their carbon footprint, enabling them to create ethanol for under $1.00 a
gallon.
